A devastating fire that engulfed a residential building in New Delhi has left several families homeless and raised concerns about the safety of their homes. The cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed, but many residents are pointing fingers at the recent AC explosion in the city.
The explosion occurred just days ago when an air conditioning unit burst into flames, causing widespread damage and power outages across the city. While officials have not officially linked the two incidents, many residents believe that the AC explosion could have been a precursor to the building fire.
“I was sitting at home when I heard the AC unit go off,” said 32-year-old Rohan Kumar, who lives in the building where the fire broke out. “At first, I thought it was just a small problem, but then I started smelling smoke and saw flames coming from outside. It was like the whole place was on fire.”
Kumar’s account is not an isolated incident. Several other residents have come forward to share their own stories of how the AC explosion seemed to trigger a chain reaction that ended in disaster.
“The AC unit had been making weird noises for days,” said 45-year-old Priya Sharma, who lives on the same floor as Kumar. “We all thought it was just old machinery, but now I wonder if it was something more sinister.”
Sharma’s fears were echoed by many other residents, who expressed concern about the safety of their homes and the potential for future disasters.
“We’ve been complaining about the building’s maintenance issues for years,” said 28-year-old Ravi Singh. “Now that the fire has happened, we’re starting to realize just how fragile our lives are.”
The Delhi Fire Department (DFD) has launched an investigation into the cause of the blaze and is working with officials from the power company and other agencies to determine what went wrong.
“We take all incidents like this very seriously,” said a DFD spokesperson. “We will leave no stone unturned in determining the cause of the fire and ensuring that such incidents do not happen again in the future.”
While the investigation is ongoing, residents are left to pick up the pieces and wonder if their homes were truly safe.
“I just want to know what could have been done to prevent this,” said Kumar. “We’ve all heard stories about gas leaks and electrical fires, but no one ever expects it to happen in their own home.”
The Delhi government has promised to take action to address the safety concerns raised by residents and to ensure that such incidents do not happen again.
