“I remember my mom would often have to wake up at 4 am every day to take me to training sessions,” Wu said. “She’d be exhausted by the end of the day, but she always found a way to put herself first.”
Despite the challenges they faced, Wu’s family remained steadfast in their support for his career. His father would often travel with him to tournaments, providing emotional support and encouragement whenever he needed it.
“I remember one time when I was playing in a big tournament,” Wu said. “I had a meltdown on the table, and my dad just sat there with me, talking me through it. He’s always been my rock.”
Wu’s success has now brought pride to his family, who have seen their son achieve his dream of becoming world champion.
“It’s an incredible feeling knowing that all our sacrifices were worth it,” Wu said. “I’m grateful to my parents for everything they’ve done for me. Without them, I wouldn’t be here today.”
As Wu looks to the future, he knows that there will be more challenges ahead. But with his family by his side, he’s confident that he can overcome anything.
“I know that no matter what happens in my career, my family will always be there to support me,” Wu said. “And for that, I’m eternally grateful.”
