The illicit “free party” was held at the site without the knowledge or permission of authorities, drawing in attendees from all over Europe.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic and surreal, with partygoers flooding the grounds and taking over the normally deserted terrain. The usually secure area, which is used for military training exercises and other official events, was left breached and vulnerable to unauthorized access.
“It was like a scene from a bad movie,” said one witness who wished to remain anonymous. “People just kept coming, and it was impossible to tell how many there were. The music was blasting, and the lights were flashing – it was like a rave in the middle of nowhere.”
The party, which was promoted online under the guise of an unofficial military event, drew attendees from across France and beyond. Many claimed that they had been misled by promises of free food, drink, and music, with others stating that they simply wanted to experience the thrill of an underground rave.
Despite the best efforts of local authorities, who attempted to shut down the party through a series of loudspeaker announcements and on-site police deployments, many ravers refused to leave. The resulting clashes between attendees and law enforcement officers were reportedly brief but intense.
