Sheila Rathee, a State executive member of the INLD (Indian National Lok Dal), has come forward alleging that her husband, former chief minister of Haryana Dushyant Singh Chautala, was murdered by his associates in a revenge plot. The family claims that Union Minister and INLD leader, Rajiv Chandrashekhar, is stalling the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the case.
According to sources close to the family, Sheila Rathee has expressed her dissatisfaction with the progress of the CBI investigation, which started in February 2022. She claims that despite the agency’s efforts, no significant breakthroughs have been made and the probe is being deliberately slowed down.
“We are not satisfied with the progress of the investigation,” said Sheila Rathee in a statement. “We demand that the Union Minister stops interfering with the investigation and allows the CBI to pursue it without any hindrance.”
The family claims that Rajiv Chandrashekhar, who was a close ally of Dushyant Singh Chautala during his tenure as chief minister, is using his influence to stall the probe. “We have been receiving calls from high-ranking officials in the Union Minister’s office, asking us not to take any action against our son,” said Sheila Rathee.
The CBI had registered a case against several accused, including some close associates of Dushyant Singh Chautala, on charges of conspiracy and murder. The agency had arrested several of them in connection with the case, but the probe was put on hold after Rajiv Chandrashekhar allegedly used his influence to stall it.
When contacted, Union Minister Rajiv Chandrashekhar denied all allegations, stating that he was not involved in any way with the investigation and was merely expressing his concern for the well-being of Dushyant Singh Chautala’s family.
“I do not know how these false accusations have started circulating,” said Chandrashekhar. “I am a close friend of the family and I have been expressing my concern for their well-being, not trying to stall the investigation.”
However, sources in the INLD party say that Rajiv Chandrashekhar’s behavior has raised suspicions among the party leaders.
“The Union Minister is known for his close ties with Dushyant Singh Chautala,” said a senior INLD leader. “If he is genuinely concerned about the family’s well-being, then why is he stalling the investigation? It seems like an attempt to shield himself and his friends from accountability.”
The CBI has so far declined to comment on the allegations made by Sheila Rathee and her family.
As the probe into Dushyant Singh Chautala’s murder continues, the INLD party is under pressure to resolve the issue quickly. The family’s allegations have raised questions about the Union Minister’s involvement in the case, and whether he is trying to protect his friends at the cost of justice for the victim’s family.
