Arsenal will be looking to further bolster their Premier League title aspirations when they take on Fulham at Craven Cottage this weekend. The Gunners’ victory would see them move six points clear of their closest rivals, Manchester City, who possess two games in hand.
Fulham, who currently sit 10th in the table, will be looking to cause an upset as they host a team that is widely regarded as one of the top contenders for the title. However, under manager Marco Silva, the Cottagers have shown signs of life, picking up crucial wins against some of the bigger clubs in the league.
For Arsenal, the visit to Craven Cottage marks their fourth game in just six days. A victory would be a significant boost to their title hopes, and they will be looking to capitalize on Manchester City’s slip-ups over the coming weeks.
Manchester City, who sit two points behind Arsenal, have two games in hand against Fulham was postponed due to weather conditions, however City has one game against Arsenal which could potentially open up an 8-point gap. However, City are still very much in the hunt for the title and will be looking to close the gap with a win.
Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta is confident that his team can pick up all three points against Fulham. He said in his pre-match press conference: “We know how important this game is, not just for us but for our rivals as well. We’re going to be very focused and make sure we give it our all.”
Meanwhile, Fulham’s Marco Silva is under no illusions about the size of the task ahead of his team. He said: “We’re aware that Arsenal are one of the top teams in the league, and we need to be at our best if we’re going to cause an upset. We’ll be working hard to make sure we give them a game they don’t want.”
The match between Arsenal and Fulham is set to kick off at 3pm GMT on Sunday.
